USF Softball’s Alex Wilkes is Named the AAC Player of the Week, Anne Long Lands on the Honor Roll

Alex Wilkes picked up her third AAC Player of the Week accolade of the season

IRVING, Texas, May 5, 2025 – Alex Wilkes put together a strong week offensively for the University of South Florida softball team. She posted a team-high nine RBIs, which led to her third American Athletic Conference Player of the Week award on Monday. Anne Long landed on the AAC Honor Roll.  
 
Wilkes, the sophomore outfielder, was on fire at the plate for USF. She earned her third AAC Player of the Week honor for 2025. She led the team with nine RBIs and posted a team-high five hits. She belted her 10th home run of the season, which was a grand slam, and moved into a tie for sixth on the USF single-season home run list. She added a triple and a double. She produced a slugging percentage of 1.222 and a batting average of .556.
 
Long, the freshman pitcher, earned her first AAC weekly accolade. She posted a 2-0 record and produced a perfect 0.00 ERA for the week. In her 7.0 innings of work, she struck out four batters and held opponents to a .200 batting average.

South Florida will be the No. 2 seed in the 2025 American Athletic Conference Tournament and will play its first game on Friday, May 9, at 3:30 p.m. on ESPN+. The AAC Tournament will be played at the USF Softball Stadium.
